Janie Parks Varnell
Janie Parks Varnell, a Chattanooga native, received her J.D. from Atlanta's
John Marshall Law School in May 2012. She holds a B.A. in Political Science
and Criminal Justice,
cum laude, from Auburn University.
During law school, Ms. Varnell clerked for Davis & Hoss, PC assisting
Attorneys Lee Davis and Bryan Hoss with two capital murder cases and two
Federal District Court cases involving the defense of Chattanooga Police Officers.
After law school, Ms. Varnell, began working as an associate at another
local law office. Her work focused on a federal drug conspiracy case involving
the overprescribing of pain medication.
In 2014 she joined the office of Davis & Hoss, PC.
Her daily practice consisted of criminal defense in Hamilton County General
Sessions Court and Criminal Court, family law in Circuit and Chancery
Court in Hamilton and Bradley County, and criminal and civil cases in
the District Court of the Eastern District of Tennessee.
Ms. Varnell is the most recent addition to the Davis & Hoss, PC trial
team and is currently working on complex federal litigation issues going
to trial in the fall and winter of 2014. Ms. Varnell currently represents
individuals charged with crimes in state and federal court, including
federal drug conspiracy cases involving local pain clinics.
Ms. Varnell also represents individuals involved in divorce actions, child
custody modifications, adoptions, orders of protection, and restraining orders.
Ms. Varnell is a member of the Tennessee and Chattanooga Bar Associations,
the Chattanooga Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Southeast
Tennessee Legal Association of Women, and the Robert Brock Cooper Inns of Court.
Ms. Varnell is a member of the 2015 graduating class of Leadership Chattanooga,
and was the Campaign Manager for Hamilton County General Sessions Court
Judge Christie Mahn Sell's reelection campaign in 2014.
Ms. Varnell grew up in Chattanooga, and married her long-time childhood
friend, Adam. They currently live in Hixson with their dog, Maggie.
